Black Dog 21 YO: vintage & pure liquid gold

BY PRESS RELEASE / Nov 6, 2012

A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE and YEARS OF PERFECTION. That’s the promise of Black Dog 21 Year old, the latest vintage variant from Black Dog’s luxury portfolio.

Hand crafted to meticulous perfection by the renowned Master Blender Richard Paterson himself, Black Dog 21 Year old continues the legacy of its founder, Sir Walter Millard, promising an OUT OF THE ORDINARY EXPERIENCE for scotch lovers.

Only 3540 bottles of this impeccable and sophisticated vintage scotch are available across the world giving it a supreme place in every connoisseurs list of favorites.

Priced between Rs 14000-17000 per unit, the Black Dog 21 Year Old will be available in NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Punjab, Chandigarh, Goa and select outlets of Bangalore (Liquor Mart & Drops).

Twenty Five of the finest single malts and grain whiskies have been drawn from the highland region of Scotland, in particular from the beautiful Speyside Valley to provide that special “finesse”. Thanks to a long marrying period in the finest Oloroso sherry butts specially selected from Spain's noblest Bodegas of Gonzalez Byass in Jerez de la Frontera, the Black Dog 21 Year Old is indeed pure liquid gold.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Capoor, President and Managing Director of United Spirits Limited, said, “We are extremely proud to introduce one of our most awaited luxury labels - Black Dog 21 Year Old, a vintage and smooth luxury scotch by USL. Balance and harmony prevails throughout this noble elegant spirit. Aged in the finest Oloroso sherry for minimum of 30 years, the Matusalem butts provide the perfect platform to marry and mould our Black Dog 21 years old Blended Scotch Whisky.”

An intense amber gold with shimmering highlights in color, the Black Dog 21 Year old is a harmony of delight orchestrated by a multitude of seductive aromas that immediately arouse the senses. Soft peaches and ripe citrus fruits coupled with pear, marzipan and bergamot begin this flirtatious fanfare. The taste is bold and magnificent. Intense flavours of Seville oranges, ripe sweet mangoes and ginger spice reward the palate, and then whispers of bitter chocolate, liquorices and crushed almonds drift lovingly on.

It is aged for 21 years – the spirit must be held long on the palate for at least twenty one seconds to awaken the many hidden attributes of this liquid Gold..... Sip and take pleasure in the definitive expression of Black Dog 21 year Old!

About Black Dog:

The birth of the great whisky took place more than 125 years ago when James McKinley from the second generations of the Leith Scotch-whisky blending family launched the masterful whisky by the name of Sir Walter Millard's favorite fishing fly, The Black Dog. It is said that in the year 1883 Sir Walter Millard, a Scot who was an extensive traveler came searching for the perfect Scotch and eventually discovered the great taste of whisky in these misty shores of Scotland. Today Black Dog is savored as a Scotch-whisky distilled, matured and blended in the lowland regions of Scotland. After more than 125 years every time-honored process is followed the same way to produce the impeccable blend of robust, yet smooth Scotch-whisky which is relished as an intricate fusion of delicate tones and soft aromas. Available in 3 enchanting blends – 18 Year Old Reserve Scotch-whisky, 12 Year Old Deluxe Scotch-whisky and Centenary Scotch-whisky.

Black Dog Reserve 18 YO is the winner of the Best in Class Gold at the International Wine and Spirit Competition held in the UK recently.
