Frustrated with the traditional methods of expensive, time consuming sole ownership or renting worn out, outdated aircraft, they decided there had to be a better way. They thought, "why can't aircraft ownership work like an exclusive golf course membership?" After all, no one person wants the cost responsibilities or hassles of solely owning an entire golf course - they simply need to own part of it with a small group of other priveleged owners, making reservations and using their facilities.
