| My newest series (#1: The Immaculate Forest Hula Prayer Dance) takes nature and turns it topsy turvy in order to get the viewer to take a closer look. Often we overlook what we take for granted. In this new series, one cannot take a photograph of nature or the nature itself for granted; one must inspect it and thus rediscovers their appreciation for the environment.
My work is experiential. It is inspired by my experience in a particular place or by a strong emotion. My nature photography is impressionist, an artistic representation of my memories of having experienced a particular place or my interaction with nature. I believe that even a picture of nature provides a true experience and I believe my work is a virtual interaction with nature, yet with a similar power to inspire, heal and elevate. I have also worked in museum and worked on over 100 art exhibitions that included worked by 19th Century American Masters and Pop Art Luminaries such as James Rosenquist and James Turrell and other pop artists.
About Me:
My 2010 works spring from my years taken during my production work as an award winning nature/travel videographer. My videography, created with my partner, is available on DVD and has sold at Amazon.com, Borders and in stores throughout Hawaii and is currently available online. My work as a photographer grew out of my videography. As a videographer and filmmaker (writer/director, producer), having edited much of my work, I am used to digital production and post-production processes.
