| Nearly 20 years ago, Mark Oberman along with wife Janie and Partner Tom Driscoll, pioneered the opening of the Camarillo Airport (formerly the Oxnard Air Force Base) by opening Channel Islands Aviation, Inc. (CIA) a full service Fixed Base Operation. CIA's facility includes a 38,000' hangar (13,000 squaremeters) with additional 6,000' of offices (2,000 squaremeters), lobby, school classroom and flight planning room with computerized weather briefing and direct lines to flight service.
About 20 years CIA has been providing a variety of services which include aircraft and helicopter flight training, fuel sales, ramp services and hangar storage, aircraft sales, charter, parts and complete engine and airframe maintenance. CIA is also a Cessna Aircraft Service Center and has Cessna and Robinson factory trained mechanics on staff. Additionally, CIA provides daily routine transportation and air medivac support to a number of the California Channel Islands located just off the coast from Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. |
