Classic inside and outside

BY PRESS RELEASE / May 2, 2012

CATOREX pays tribute to the classics, for which it was renowned, by presenting a new C’Vintage range in a limited series of just 499 pieces.

The design of the steel case of this C’Vintage is inspired by the typically round shape of a CATOREX wristwatch dating from the late 1960s early 1970s.

But C’Vintage does not only evoke tradition from the outside - it also and above all evokes it from the inside. Indeed, this watch is fitted with a very rare Schild AS 2063 movement. Patience and persuasion was needed to find a sufficient number of the mechanical movements once made by the Adolph Schild manufacture in Granges. The AS 2063 is the fruit of 40 years’ research and development by this watchmaking firm that has today disappeared. It features, notably, a single direction (counter clockwise) winding mechanism, an Incabloc shock protection system, a rapid date adjustment mechanism and an automatic rewinding mechanism. Moreover, its frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour ensures its great functioning precision.

Before being fitted in the newly produced 499 C’Vintage cases, these ancient movements are fully restored, reconditioned and decorated. Each watch has a transparent case back to allow this prestigious mechanism to be admired.

The four C’Vintage models come with leather straps and each with a different colour dial: blue (8162-1), anthracite (8162-2), silver (8162-3) and copper (8162-4). These dials with sober hour symbols are enhanced with pointed hands which reinforce the model’s vintage style. The date is discreetly placed at 3’o clock. The CATOREX logo, a crowned “C”, is incorporated into the crown. Finally, it is embellished with a domed and bevelled sapphire crystal glass.

The watches of the «1858 » range, manufactured entirely in Les Breuleux (Switzerland), are all powered by Swiss movements, have steel cases or ceramic and are equipped with sapphire glasses. A crowned « C » discreetly integrated into the winder is what all the models have in common. The majority of them also have a transparent back revealing the decorated movement. The prices, according to model, range from 475 to 1950 francs.
